Engagement Announcement

Paul and Emily Rizner of Union, Connecticut announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda to Todd Chrisman, son of David and Georgia of Marshfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Rizner graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and is a veterinarian with the Temm Veterinary Hospital in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Mr. Chrisman graduated from Eastern Nazarene College and is the Bond Manager for Albert J. Tonry & Co., Inc. in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Date

June 9, 2007

Time

2:00 PM

Place

We're getting married at St. Anne's Church, Fiskdale (Sturbridge), Massachusetts in an outdoor pavilion (Directions).  Then we move to the family lake front property in Union, Connecticut for the reception.  The drive between the two is about 10 miles and should take about 15 minutes.  The property is 18 acres with no permanent structures, but a whole lot of fun.  Most of the shoreline of the lake is Bigelow Hollow State Park.

Reception

Paul, Amanda's father, is currently doing some site work and road maintenance so our outdoor wedding will be as accessible as possible.  You will be able to get anything but the lowest sports car all the way to the reception area.  We're setting up tents and a dance floor.  Dinner will be BBQ style and served buffet.  We're hoping that folks will enjoy dinner and dancing and then some swimming, rope-swinging and water sliding.  We expect the camp fire to burn until late in the evening.

Kids?

We'd be disappointed if you didn't bring your kids.  Who hasn't heard a fussy baby at a wedding and thought "That's what this is all about."?  Our wedding is to celebrate friends and family, and kids are a big part of that.

Dogs?

We'd like folks to bring their dogs.  Please have a crate and leash for them as too many dogs in a strange place could lead to some squabbles.  Also, bring a scooper as we don't need dog doo all over the place.  Please be sure they are up to date on shots, especially a kennel cough within the last six months.

Airports

  • Bradley International, (BDL) Windsor Locks Connecticut, 45 miles, 55 minutes
  • Theodore F. Greene, (PVD) Providence, Rhode Island 75 miles, 90 minutes+
  • Logan International, (BOS) Boston, Massachusetts, 80 miles, 90 minutes+

Note:  Times and distances are per Google Maps.  Bradley should take less time)

Places to Stay

Area Attractions

New England is a wonderful place to visit, year round. It's particularly nice in June and one of the reasons we schedule the wedding then is we knew we'd have out-of-town guests who might want to combine our wedding with a vacation.

For those who have come to visit and seen the bright lights of Boston, I'd suggest checking out the main streets and back roads of some of the less densely populated areas of the region.

House Sitter Wanted

If you want to come visit Maine, we'd love somebody to use the farm.  We've gotten dog sitters.  We are in a lakes region not far from all the tourist locations in Southern Maine and New Hampshire.  We're about an hour from Kittery, Portland, Sebago Lake, Lake Winnipesaukee and Conway, New Hampshire.  Two hours will put you in Boston or Booth Bay Harbor.  LL Bean is about an hour and fifteen minutes from here.  Right in town, we have Ted's Fried Clams, Mausom Pond and Square Pond.

Registries

We don't need the typical stuff most folks do because we're older and have lived alone for several years.  We also have several family heirlooms that would otherwise be traditional wedding gifts.  We have registered for gifts we can really use.

We are registered at several places including:

Bed Bath & Beyond
All kinds of stuff, including Amanda's china pattern.
WalMart World's largest retailer for a reason.  Don't know what we'll put in here, but they sell everything and are everywhere.
Sears Probably tools here for Todd.
Lowes - This one is loaded with stuff we need for the farm, some appliances and a new bathroom we are planning to add.

Water Heater that they won't let us register for.  Our basement flooded in the storm and our electric heater is damaged.  This model won't sit anywhere near the floor.

This list may grow.
